Welcome to Awakening to Your Story the place to learn, get inspired and be supported with heart-centered solutions for your everyday life. I am Alicia Hartzell and I don’t know about you but to me it feels like there is a lot going on right now.
In addition to all the things we mange on a daily basis we get to add in navigating our cultural climate, the ins and outs and ups and downs of the holidays and let’s not forget about having to deal with the heightened emotions of ourselves and other people during these chaotic times.
This is your reminder to activate your Emotional Tools! Have you ever noticed that the times we need Emotional Tools the most is often the times we forget to use them. There has never been a better time to dig in and make your emotional well-being a priority!
So let’s talk strategy. At this point there are 16 tools in the Awakening to Your Story Emotional Tool Library with more coming next season. I wanted to make this as easy for you as I could so I created 4 categories that you can easily pick and choose from. You pick the category that applies to your life the most right now and then you pick a couple of the tools from that category and you make it a priority to practice them in your daily life.
Here are the categories:
- Emotional Tools – To Ground You, A Basic Daily Practice
- Emotional Tools – To Stay Nonreactive & Deal With Challenging People & Relationships
- Emotional Tools – To Help You Feel Good Or At Least Better In Your Daily Life
- Emotional Tools – To Use When There Is Deeper Emotional Work To Do
I created playlists on Youtube for each of these categories and I will link each individual tool’s video and blog post below.
Let’s look at each category and the tools more closely:
These are tools that ground you in your consciousness. They help you stay an active participant making sure you are not just living your life on autopilot. Mini Meditation helps quiet the chaotic chatter. Journaling helps you accumulate the positive and process the negative. The Stream Kayak Principle help you create ownership for your consciousness. If you know where you are on the river of life then you can actively navigate your way through anything the world tosses your way.
Emotional Tools – To Stay Nonreactive & Deal With Challenging People & Relationships
These five tools help you stay in a place of inner alignment while also keeping your focus on the things in life you have autonomy over. Your voice, point of reference, discernment and boundaries all help you stay in an interactive state of being rather than a reaction one. All of these things help you know what emotionally belongs to you and what doesn’t. These tools profoundly change how you show up in dynamics with other people. Setting you up to feel better no matter what the world tosses your way.

Emotional Tools – To Help You Feel Good Or At Least Better In Your Daily Life
These six tools are designed to help you feel better in your life. Using the wonders of your brain and biological and emotional heart these tools are going to help you feel better and set you up to feel good each day. I would never ask you not to feel your feelings but I want to remind you that you DON’T have to follow those feelings. These tools give you the power back, the power to feel good or better one thought and feeling at a time. Remember you feeling good does not have to be dependent on what does or doesn’t shows up in your life. It’s time to quiet your negative bias and build up your positive bias, gather your PCMs, have a thought party, pick and choose your thoughts carefully and find yourself basking on the Pina Colada beach side of life. Not to mention activating your higher level thinking is going to make you a better participant in your life.

Emotional Tools – To Use When There Is Deeper Emotional Work To Do
These are tools to use when the negative things get “loud” in your life. Volume always helps you find the deeper emotional work at hand. It is so important to remember that it’s all there designed to help you, yes even that negative thing that come to mind right now, but you have to know how to use it. These tools will help you do just that. It’s not necessary for you to get stuck in the negative, instead work the tools and find your way to the other side.
Ok, you will notice that while I have broken them up into categories, these tools really weave themselves together to fortify you and your mental, emotional and physical well-being.
